ArrowBiome is a Singapore biotechnology company developing science-based solutions for microbiome management. We combine biotechnology, formulation science and disciplined process development to translate laboratory research into reproducible, scalable products. This role sits at the exact point where that translation happens.

The role, in one sentence

You support in-house laboratory manufacturing and process development across a biologically active ingredient process and a particle-based formulation process — and you make the batches reliable, reproducible and well documented.

Why this seat exists, and why now

Our platforms are validated and our first products are in market. Demand is growing, and with it the volume of in-house laboratory manufacturing we run — across a biologically active ingredient process and a particle-based formulation process. This role adds dedicated engineering capacity to that bench.

The immediate priority is reliable, reproducible and well-documented in-house batches. As the process matures, the role extends into optimisation, scale-up and manufacturing-transfer support — so the work you do in the first months becomes part of the foundation for how we manufacture at volume.

Now — in-house manufacturing & process development

  • Run the bench. Execute laboratory-scale formulation and particle-processing activities per approved procedures and safety requirements.
  • Deliver batches, safely and repeatably. Run routine batches safely and reproducibly, including multi-day experiments, with increasing independence.
  • Characterise and test. Perform physicochemical characterisation and in-process testing — moisture, particle size and distribution, microscopy, viscosity.
  • Own the lab and its safety. Maintain lab equipment, calibration schedules and consumables; own EHS practice including solvent and powder handling, and risk assessments.
  • Troubleshoot, and escalate honestly. Resolve routine issues within authorised limits, and escalate deviations promptly rather than absorbing them.

As we scale — optimisation & transfer readiness

  • Keep the record straight. Maintain accurate batch records, equipment logs and deviation documentation; support batch-record and change-control practice.
  • Make batches comparable. Produce structured, traceable process records that can be compared across batches, with quantitative acceptance criteria.
  • Prepare the handover. Support approved optimisation and reproducibility studies, and contribute to specifications for future scale-up and transfer.

Required

The foundation

A bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer or Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical or Biological Sciences, or a related field — and up to 5 years' relevant lab experience. Strong internship or final-year project work is genuinely considered.

The technical core

Experience in protein production (expression and purification), or a strong foundation in it. Sound fundamentals in particles, colloids, dispersions or formulation.

The habits

Careful experimental technique, disciplined record-keeping, and safe solvent and chemical handling. Familiarity with particle or physicochemical characterisation methods, including an understanding of their resolution limits.

A strong advantage

None of these are gates. Each one shortens your runway, and we would rather tell you which than leave you guessing.

  • Industrial protein production. Expression and purification in an industrial, pilot or scale-up setting.
  • Unit operations. Filtration, purification, concentration or drying.
  • Repeat-batch discipline. Repeat-batch operations or pilot-scale manufacturing, and ISO- or GMP-style documentation.
  • Structured data. Electronic lab notebooks, structured data tools, or basic statistics and DOE.

What good looks like in this role

Someone outside the company can pick up your batch records and understand exactly what was made, how, and whether it met specification — without asking you. That is the standard we work to, and it is why we hire for judgement and discipline as much as for technique.
